Slow Shopping, every Tuesday, 2-4pm

Slow Shopping is a local charity helping make everyday spaces more inclusive and welcoming for everyone , particularly people who may find shopping or busy environments stressful, such as those living with dementia, hidden disabilities, or anxiety.

Founded in 2015 by Katherine Vero, Slow Shopping was inspired by her personal experiences shopping with her mother, Jo, who lived with dementia. Katherine realised that small changes such as reducing background noise, extra time at the checkout, more seating or a kind, patient member of staff, could make a huge difference.

Since then, Slow Shopping has grown into a national initiative, helping businesses, councils, and communities create more supportive and inclusive environments.

We’re delighted to announce that Cramlington will be one of the first towns in the region to introduce Slow Shopping starting Tuesday 13th January.

The project Slow Shopping at Manor Walks is in partnership between Cramlington Town Council, Concordia Leisure Centre, and The Hub and we will be supporting the initiative by offering a quieter shopping environment from 2-4pm every Tuesday.
