All your favourites at home

Like us, you will be missing all the little things in life during lockdown. Whether that is popping out for a cake and coffee with friends or visiting your favourite restaurant for dinner with the family.

Well fear not, you can enjoy all these things from the comfort of your home as your favourite foodie places are sharing the secrets of their menu with lots of fun recipes for you to try at home.

From Greggs, Frankie and Benny’s to Costa, we have selected our favourites for you to try. We’d love to see how you get on so don’t forget to tag us in your pictures on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.

Greggs- Steak Bake

What you’ll need:

  • Finely diced beef
  • Beef stock
  • Cornflour or flour mixed with water
  • Puff pastry
  • An egg

The Method:

  • Sizzle beef in a frying pan until browned
  • Pour on beef stock and cornflour mix
  • Thicken to taste and leave to cool
  • Cut 2 squares of pastry 108mm x 94mm and egg wash the first square
  • Spoon in the beef filling
  • Add the top square of pastry and fork the edge
  • Score 6 lines on the top of the pastry and egg wash
  • Pop it in the over for 20 minutes at 200 degrees or until golden brown and piping hot
  • If you’re feeling extra creative why not try making your own paper bag and designing your own brand!

Steak Bake

 

Frankie and Bennys- Sticky BBQ Wings

What you’ll need:

  • Chicken Wings
  • BBQ sauce
  • Ketchup
  • Mustard
  • Vinegar
  • Brown Sugar

The Method:

  • Pre-cook your wings in just enough water to cover them, gently simmering for 20 minutes. Keep the cooking liquid, this can be used for soups, sauces or gravy
  • Tumble the wings in your favourite BBQ sauce OR make your own BBQ sauce
  • Mix ketchup, mustard, vinegar and brown sugar. Add chilli or black pepper for extra spice. Play around with the amounts until you get it to how you like it
  • Place the wings on a baking tray and cook in the oven at 220C
  • Keep moving the wings in the sauce until they have crisped and are sticky
  • Serve with more sauce, sour cream, creme fresh, garlic mayonnaise or even salad cream
  • Tuck in and enjoy!

 Sticky Wings

Costa- Caramel Shortbread

What you’ll need:

  • 250g plain flour
  • 75g caster sugar
  • 275g unsalted butter
  • 100g brown sugar
  • 2x cans of condensed milk
  • 200g chocolate

The Method:

  • Preheat the over to 180 degrees and grease a baking tray with a bit of butter
  • Rub 250g flour, 75g caster sugar and 175g of butter until they resemble breadcrumbs
  • Knead mixture into a big ball and press firmly into the lined baking tray
  • Bake for 20 minutes or once firm and set aside to cool
  • For the caramel, stir 100g of butter, 100g brown sugar and the cans of milk in a pan until it starts to bubble
  • Reduce the heat and let it simmer for 5-10 minutes
  • Pour the caramel over the shortbread (be careful-it’s hot!) and leave to cool
  • Melt 200g of chocolate on a low heat and drizzle on top of your creation and leave to set
  • Cut into bars and enjoy!
